Mississippi accomplishes this external trade success through its efficient regulatory government and quick access to major markets. MDA’s STEP program helps small businesses defray the cost of international marketing and trade missions, while the state’s four international airports, four Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ) and two gulf ports help build global corporations. The Mississippi River’s major tributaries include the Arkansas, Illinois, Missouri and Ohio Rivers, creating easy access to domestic markets.
